Two years ago a lump started growing on Zoeys left leg. A needle biopsy showed round cells. I had the lump removed and pathology came back level 1 cancer. Because of where the tumor is, it's difficult to remove it all, there are many blood vessels. The only sure way to get it all would be to amputate her leg. She is 11 and I am unwilling to put her through that drastic of a surgery.
The tumor has been growing these past two years. It grew slowly during the first year, I should have had it taken off last year again. But because it was still smaller than when they did first surgery, I waited. Then the second year is when MY health took it's turn. I found it difficult to deal with the house stuff that needed to be done, so I kept pushing things off.
Now that I have been feeling better I knew I had to have it done. I was scared because the first surgery was difficult for her. But by the grace of God Zoey has been better with this one. I dropped her off this morning at 730am, the surgery was done around 1030am. I picked her up at 1pm. I was so pleased that she ate when we got home. Last time she would not eat, she just kept walking around the house crying. It was many hours before she settled down. Today has been different. She is much less stressed; she is pretty calm which is fantastic. She has had two good meals, has been given her antibiotic and the gabapentin they prescribed. And here in this picture you can see her sleeping comfortably. Sleep is good, sleep is healing time. I am relieved.
Say a little prayer for her speedy recovery and also a prayer that the cancer becomes lazy, grows super slow.
