I wanted to touch base and tell y'all why I have been absent. On Monday evening, 12/29 my son called me. He was having severe stomach pain. He lives 3.5 hours away from me, in GA and I am in SC. He had been in pain all day, he was working through it. He is a salesman for Coke, so he was throwing cases of soda. He lives alone and has no close friends who live near him really.
So after about 15 minutes of us talking, trying to sort out what he should do, he decides to DRIVE HIMESLEF to the ER at the closest hospital, 30 minutes away. Then it takes two hours for him to get a bed there. All the while, he is in severe pain. So, what was wrong you ask? Well, I will tell you.
His appendix. They give him morphine for the pain, blood work, urine AND a CT scan. By this time its 10 pm. They keep him overnight. Tuesday at 2pm he has surgery.
Mind you the entire time I am losing my shit. Being so close to the holiday, I couldn't get Zoey (my doggo) into boarding. And she can't be left alone, separation anxiety.
So, the DR was able to do a laparoscopic surgery, which is good BUT. When he got in, he saw the appendix had a small perforation which means the infection had been spilling out. ARGHHHH. He had to rinse all that out. My son is still in the hospital. He has a drain tube in still. He will be in at least one more night, maybe more.
When I talked to the DR and told him what my son does for work. He said Nic was lucky, and he was surprised the appendix did not burst from him slinging cases of soda around. Also, DR has no idea how he managed to DRIVE HIMSELF to the ER.
This is the first time Nic has ever been in a hospital. First time he has ever been this ill. Looking back, his appendix has been going bad for several weeks. A few weeks back he had the same pain, just not nearly as severe. It lasted three days, and my son worked through it! And after that he was feeling generally a bit ill and tired. He thought it was just cuz work had been busy, during the holiday's you folks buy a shit ton of Coke, LOL thanks for that!
Anyway, I just wanted to let y'all know what has been going on with me. I got a very sweet voice message from Alex. Wishing my son and me well.
Please say a prayer for my son, if that's something you do. Or send out in to the universe health and healing.
I appreciate each of you. I am not sure how long I will be absent. I feel like I need to keep my mind and soul clear of ugliness for a bit. I'm sure you understand.
