Unreal. These poor kids.
Married father has multiple children with his (step?) daughter starting when she was 12 years old. Nine children total living in the house with him and his wife.
None of the children, some now adults, knew how to read or write. Two are nonverbal. None of them had ever seen a doctor, a dentist, a school room, or even a theater. They all had awful teeth and hygiene problems. None of them were allowed outside of the house ever unless their dad was with them.
They all slept on one heavily soiled mattress on the floor. Their living conditions were abhorrent. Because none of them ever had any contact with the outside world, they believed their situation was normal.
One woman took notice and took action. Because of her, the father and mother were arrested and the children removed. This brave woman is taking care of the older children. God bless her.
